When it comes to the holiday season in November/December, you tend to associate the period with tranquillity and joy—never a word like ‘killing’. But that is exactly what happened with during the recent Black Friday sales event, so please, forgive the rather crude metaphor.

Another factor that helped drive sales was the inclusion of powerful software packages and according to Regis Filsaime of Nintendo, the bundling of software will be a key strategy for the company going forward. He went on to add that: “For us, it really was driven by unique and powerful software,” said Filsaime, “and what gives us confidence is that we still have more software to launch in the balance of this holiday period.”
Of course, Nintendo has seen its share of the gaming market decline steadily over the years and the company is pinning its hopes on the release of the Wii U second-generation Wii console in the New Year. For now though, Nintendo will take a few Black Friday’s in between.
