Social networks provide its users with many benefits other than just being able to keep in touch with friends and family members and other people in their lives. It allows businesses to have accounts where they can promote their company and the various deals and services that they offer. This is especially popular and beneficial during the holiday season since users on social networks such as Facebook are able to view deals and get coupons and special offers from local businesses as well as their favorite department stores. A recent report showed that 80% of social media users who receive attention from companies on their social network accounts in turn make purchases from them. This shows how not only customers can benefit from companies who have social network accounts, but just how successful companies can be during the holiday season especially if they have social accounts to promote themselves and their holiday deals.

Mr. Youth, a word-of-mouth marketing firm recently acquired by LBI, polled about 4,500 adults and found that social media is a key driver of holiday gift purchases this year. One stat that should resonate in CMO offices around the country is that 66% of respondents who bought something on Black Friday did so as a direct result of social media interactions with friends and family. If you’re a consumer, this may confirm that you are not alone in using Facebook and Twitter as a sounding board for your gift giving. If you’re a marketer, you should head south to the infographic to see how just a small interaction with a consumer over social media can make them feel special.
