I keep banging on about Sedo’s ability to command big sales when it
comes to domain names and it’s always good when a sale comes along to
solidify my point.
The
proof this time comes in the form of Fab.de, which sold on Sedo for a
whopping $50,000.00. Now I know you might be thinking “what’s the big
deal—it’s not like it went for $100,000” If you are, that is plausible.
But contrast the sale of Fab/de with the recent sale of SK.net and the
evidence becomes overwhelming in support of Sedo being the better
aftermarket.
Fab.de is a three-letter domain—and one that is valuable for sure, but surely not as valuable as a two-letter domain. And even if you adjust or the fact that ‘Fab’ is actually a word that is brandable, it can’t compete with the broader, more widely applicable SK.net.
Of course I am aware (in the back of my mind that the .Net extension doesn’t have the value-pull as other domains, but surely it should command more at sale than a .De? Perhaps a more scientific and detailed study needs to be undertaken to support my view but on just casual observation, Sedo seems to be leading the field.
