The last few months have seen a few high profile cases of hackings into high security government and official databases and it seems we might have just witnessed another one.
The United Nations hasn’t issued any official response to the attack but I am sure the perpetrators will be sought by the authorities. But will they catch them? Team Poison is known to be very shadowy and has only loose ties with other prominent hacker collectives. The group for instance launched an all-out attack on rival hacking group LulzSec, exposing many of LulzSec’s members a few months ago.
This recent hacking—especially of such an important organization—will once again put the censorship and access to the internet under the microscope.
Do you think hacking groups should be targeting high-profile organizations like the UN? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
