Very little is mentioned about the tech industry in Israel but quite a
few companies have been making a name for themselves and spreading
their wings to the US in the process. One such company and website is
MyHeritage, a family-based social network that has grown rapidly since
getting its genesis (no pun intended, seriously) in the sunny climes of
Israel.
According
to the companies records, MyHeritage.com now has over 60 million
registered international users; is available in a whopping 38 languages
and has over 900 million individual profiles complete with 21 family
trees. If that weren’t enough, the company seems to be profitable.
This level of success has clearly impacted the ambitions of MyHeritage, because the company recently announced the acquisition of FamilyLink, the company behind well-known family history websites like WorldVitalRecords.com. The acquisition marks MyHertitage’s foray into the US market in a big way and experts are calling the purchase a win-win situation for all concerned. Both FamilyLink.com and WorldVitalRecords.com are paid subscription services so straight away, MyHeritage gets it hands on assets that are capable of turning a profit and adding to its overall bottom-line.
And just in case people aren’t taking notice, the company has launched a massive recruitment drive in Utah. This is expected to recruit the talent necessary to make MyHeritage.com an household name in the US.
Do you think a social network devoted to family members will be a hit with people in the US? Share your views in the comments below.
