Imigration.com Domain Sells For $35,000

Imigration.com might be a ‘M’ short but that hasn’t stopped the domain from commanding a hefty price at sale. According to the weekly domain sales report from Sedo, imigration.com fetched $35,000 at auction. The details of the auction are sketchy, but apparently the domain was bought on the strength of it being a strong keyword domain—albeit one that’s missing a letter.
It was first registered in 2008 and WHOIS checks suggest that it has been parked for much of the time that it was registered. The buyer will now obviously have to work at making it into a brandable space on the web, but that won’t be too difficult to do given the very heavy searched term that is ‘immigration’.
This sale reinforces Sedo’s dominance in the domain aftermarket because I doubt very much that imigration.com would have been able to fetch more at another market. Although it’s not clear who the buyer is, many in the domain buying space are speculating that an immigration legal practice might be a likely buyer. As a .Com, it wouldn’t be too difficult to brand the domain and make it specific to most locales—and pretty much every developed country has a high demand for services dealing with immigration.
Congrats to Sedo on another fine sale.
