100Plus Raises $1.25 Million To Help Humans Live Longer

The whole business of helping people live longer than the biblical 3 scores and 10 allotment might be getting closer, thanks in large part to so-called health prediction services.

One of the leading players in this growing service area is 100Plus. Co-founded by serial entrepreneur Ryan Howard, the company has been attracting some major backers in the last few months, having raised over $500,000 from VC firm Founders Fund just 5 months ago. Now the company is announcing that the total funding secured is a hefty $1.25 million. According to a release from 100Plus, quite a few prominent VCs have jumped aboard the ‘Live Longer’ bandwagon and include the likes of Reid Hoffman and John Lilly from Greylock Partners’ Discovery Fund. Also coming on board is Aydin Senkut of Felicis Ventures, and Ian Sobieski and Nicola Corzine via Band both of Angels’ Acorn Fund.

With this new round of funding, Howard and his team expects to make the system of predicting health risks among its users more robust and accurate. Currently 100Plus works by allowing users log their diet, exercise, and other decisions, which 100Plus then compares with data found in its database. This database contains health information from major agencies like Practice Fusion, Health.gov, and the CDC.

The hope is that 100Plus will be able to help people prevent the nasty illnesses that befall them in their more useful years and extend their lifespan to the very ambitions 100+ mark.
